By using a combination of low cost, special purpose, network sensors and neural network/transformer time series technology, Steelhouse Data Networks is able to collect and collate data and to analyse that data to provide time critical voltage and frequency forecasts. 
The models are based on, recently developed, 
neural network/ transformer technology. Various product sets are available and Steelhouse has developed and adapted forecasting models that can use zero shot forecasting (full zero shot inference or with parameter efficient fine tuning) and models that can be trained from scratch. Training from scratch typically involves millions of domain specific data points. The models can be fine tuned or retrained if accuracy drift is detected.

VOLTAGE FORECASTING 

The Steelhouse technology can be applied across multiple low voltage electricity grids allowing more efficient operations for a DNO.

The context period and horizon can be adjusted depending on DNO requirements and can range from minutes, for „within control cycle“ operator input, to days, for planning purposes. These forecasts can be used on a standalone basis or can be employed as additional input in the traditional Static State Estimate or Dynamic State Estimate processes of the DNO.

Importantly the DNO can also integrate their own voltage data as input for analysis.

The range of Steelhouse Data Networks products is extensive and includes voltage data acquisition and management. This comprehensive package allows the optimum product choice to suit the customer DNO systems and management requirements. 

GRID FREQUENCY FORECASTING

Steelhouse has built and trained grid frequency time series forecasting models with our proprietary recorded data. These models are capable of providing forecasts for general planning and monitoring procedures and are helpful in detecting grid problems like unintentional islanding of local grids.

For grid balancing, however, it is recognised that higher accuracy data is needed. Such higher accuracy data can be obtained through a combination of dedicated measuring equipment and/or multiple locations. Using such higher accuracy data the Steelhouse grid frequency time series forecasting models can provide operational support for grid balancing management.
